Miralem Pjanic (21'), Pablo Daniel Osvaldo (31') y Mattia Destro (51') scored as AS Roma took a 3-0 victory over Atalanta in a Coppa Italia match Tuesday.
The Giallorossi, fourth place in Seriea, extended their winning streak to five games in all competitions.
Roma captain Francesco Totti remained on the bench on a cold night at Rome's Stadio Olimpico. Osvaldo was red-carded in the 55th minute and will be suspended for Roma's next Coppa Italia match, against Fiorentina or Udinese Jan. 9.
Roma coach Zdenek Zeman went with two teenagers in the starting lineup: 17-year-old Alessio Romagnoli, who made his Roma debut in central defense, and 19-year-old Uruguayan Nico Lopez in attack.
The Roma trio of Michael Bradley, Daniele De Rossi and Pjanic dominated the midfield. But Roma concluded the contest without Osvaldo, ejected for elbowing Carlos Matheu, and Destro, who was injured in a clash with Cristian Raimondi.
Atalanta defender Guillermo Stendardo missed the game to take a test for law school admission. Coach Stefano Colantuono had listed Stendardo on the Atalanta roster, refusing him permission to skip the match.
